Advantages of using RGw

Fewer options, but more powerful.

Modern's white is a dexterous color with few options, but it has many powerful cards instead.Gruul can do a similar thing, but by adding white, you can make it even more powerful.

Cannot be targeted by 《Aether Gust》

Of course, 《Aether Gust》 can't interfere with white cards.This is a good factor because in the current metagame, opponents often defend 《Blood Moon》and《Alpine Moon》 with 《Aether Gust》.So, 《Nature's Chant》and《Shattering Blow》, which are cards with the same role, are rated lower because they contain green and red.

White is likely to remain a strong color in the future.

You may remember that "F.I.R.E." created a lot of powerful cards during the period from Guilds of Ravnica to Throne of Eldraine.In the same way, there have been strong cards since WotC announced that it would strengthen white cards.These days, it can be anything from draw to strong removal.

Titanshift is an archetype that doesn't get many major updates, so it's good to see that strong cards are continually being added.Personally, I think it goes beyond Color Pie. But then again, card gamers like to use the strongest cards, lol.

Removal

Cascade measures

《Drannith Magistrate》

This is useful for Cascade decks such as Cascade Crash and Living End, since your opponent can only cast it from their hand.It is strong against 《Force of Negation》 but weak against《Lightning Bolt》, so use it carefully.

If your opponent casts it, all of your《Wish》will be wasted, so be sure to remove it.

《Declaration in Stone》

I'm thinking of splitting it up to remove tokens from 《Crashing Footfalls》and《Urza's Saga》.It's single symbol, lightweight, multiple removal, and no disadvantage when dealing with tokens, so it's easy to use.This is a sorcery, so be serious with your life management, assuming you can get one combat from your opponent's tokens.

Don't forget to make sure your opponent doesn't have 3 mana before removing the《Batterskull》token.

Graveyard measures

《Rest in Peace》

There are many decks that use the graveyard with Delirium, Delve, and《Wrenn and Six》, so it is worth making RGw just for《Rest in Peace》.These decks are strong, but not strong enough to be banned.Until " The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth", the real MH3, is released in 2023, which anti-graveyard card to use is an inevitable problem in playing Modern.

As I mentioned in a previous article, the UR combination is not very good against Enchantment, so aim for a time when it will not be countered.

Artifact only measures

《Fragmentize》

Being lightweight is a big deal in Modern, where the game develops very quickly.Also, 《Urza's Saga》is used a lot, so it is not a problem to employ it in a miscellaneous way.

It is powerless against《Batterskull》and《Kaldra Compleat》, so if《Stoneforge Mystic》is strong in your metagame, don't use it.

《Stony Silence》

It works well for Scale Affinity, Affinity, and HummerTime.However, you can't rely on it too much because if your opponent controls《Sigarda's Aid》, you will be helpless.

《Kataki, War's Wage》

It is not resistant to《lightning Bolt》, but it can force your opponent to pay a strong maintenance cost, so you can expect a huge return.

It's easy to empty the board if you successfully install it, and with its power of 2, you can drop your opponent's life to 18, which is also an added bonus.

Enchantment only measures

《Ray of Revelation》

This card is the Enchantment version of《Ancient Grudge》.If you really hate《Blood Moon》,《 Alpine Moon》, or《Urza's Saga》, destroy them repeatedly with this card.It is easy to operate strongly because the FB cost is only (G) and the probability of your opponent putting in anti-graveyard measures is low.

It is very cool to be able to use Judgement cards, which contain the oldest Wish cards, with the newest 《Wish》.

《Leave No Trace》

The famous Enchantment countermeasure card in pauper.Even in Modern, it can be very powerful if your opponent is Enchantress or Bogles.It is also useful when there are multiple《Blood Moon》or 《Alpine Moon》on the board.

Note that《Urza's Saga》is colorless. Colorless is not a color, so only the target《Urza's Saga》can be destroyed.Also, your Enchantment will be destroyed, so be careful not to destroy《Dryad of the Ilysian Grove》or《Courser of Kruphix》.

Measures against both Enchantment and Artifact

《Cathar Commando》

This is one of those cards that, like《Fateful Absence》, feels like an increase in card power.

1. Cannot be countered by《Force of Negation》.
2. It has Flash, so you can cast it at the right time when it won't be countered or when it is important.
3. Since it has a power of 3, it can be used for development to reduce the opponent's life.

These three points are the evaluation points.Personally, I find it depressing to think that my opponents keep using this card in pauper.

《Wear/Tear》

The only thing I mainly use is 《Tear》.However, if your opponent have 《Urza's Saga》, casting both can be effective in some situations, so think carefully before casting.

Fuse cards are often used, but the rules are a bit complicated, so learn them before you use them.I've summarized a bit using 《Wear/Tear》 as an example.

• Mana Cost is 3 mana if you cast both, or just the one you cast if you cast only one.
• The color is RW if you cast both, or just the one you cast if you cast only one.
• When it's not on Stack, it's RW and 3 mana.
• If you cast both, they will both be countered by one counter, since they ride on Stack as one spell.Also, don't resolve them at the same time, but resolve them in order from the 《Wear》side.
• You can't cast both unless you cast from your hand. So if you go through Wish, you can only cast one of them.
• You can cast both and target the same card.For example, if your opponent controls an Artifact creature and an《Enchanted Evening》, it will become an Artifact/Enchantment creature and you will be able to target it twice.In this case, if your opponent doesn't have a way to regenerate the creature twice, you can surely destroy it.
• It rides on the stack as a single spell, so if you cast both, but one of them is an Illegal Target, they will both fizzle.
• There are two card names.Even if your opponent uses a card that prohibits you from casting, such as《Meddling Mage》, you can still cast the card on the side that is not specified.Also, if《Wear》is specified on a card that exiles directly from the library, it will be exiled because 《Wear/tear》 contains "Wear".

Other countermeasure cards

《Silence》

1. As an additional《Veil of Summer》, you can cast it before you cast your finisher.
2. When Cascade triggers, cast it on Stack to make it useless.
3. Stack the trigger to reduce the opponent's Suspend counter.
4. Cast it on the upkeep of the turn when your opponent's graveyard is filling up to prevent them from casting《Murktide Regent》.

《Eidolon of Rhetoric》

It is effective against Storm and UR Phoenix, which has recently been reinstated.There is《Ethersworn Canonist》as a comparison, but even though it is one mana heavier, its reputation changes greatly depending on whether it is resistant to《Lightning Bolt》.

《Aven Mindcensor》

This card is powerful because Modern uses a lot of search.It is a bit heavy at 3 mana and has no 《Lightning Bolt》resistance, so it is important to assess the metagame properly.

The recommendation is to use Amulet Titan when it becomes a threat in the metagame.Interfere with your opponent's《Summoner's Pact》or Transmute.

《Containment Priest》

1. Reanimater
2. Yawgmoth Combo
3. Kiki-Chord

It is effective against these six.You need to watch the metagame carefully because it is not《Lightning Bolt》resistant and is completely useless in some metagames.

《Deflecting Palm》

It can also be employed since the metagame is full of fatties such as《Murktide Regent》,《Emrakul, the Aeons Torn》, and creatures equipped with 《Colossus Hammer》.Burn is sometimes employed to bounce back the attacks of《Primeval Titan》, so take care of it as much as possible.

This card is also easily misunderstood, so remember the following two points before using it.

1. Since you're not targeting it, you can bounce it off creatures that have Hexproof or Shroud.
2. A Source of Damage that is bounced back by an opponent's《Deflecting Palm》is the《Deflecting Palm》, not the original card.If you want to bounce off your opponent's《Deflecting Palm》even more, remember to specify the Source of Damage as your opponent's《Deflecting Palm》.

About RGw WishValakut's sample list

This is the sample list of RGw WishValakut.There are two white mana cards in total, Sacred Foundry from MB and Plains from SB.RG WishValakut had《snow-covered forest》in the SB to save green mana in case《Blood Moon》and 《Alpine Moon》 were put down.This time, the intention is to change that frame to《Plains》to destroy more Artifacts and Enchantments.Since there are few land destruction cards in the metagame, I decided that two cards would be enough.I figure if UW Control increases in the metagame, I can replace 《Stomping Ground》with《Sacred Foundry》for a total of 3 cards and be good to go.

In order to use《Ray of Revelation》strongly, it is assumed that you will side in《Plains》 in the SB game and fight with 28 lands.This caused more lands to come into my hand than usual, so I added a《Explore》.《Explore》is a card that is usually side-out, but in this list, it should never be side-out in order to keep things running smoothly.
