Summary of WishValakut list of good results in October

Hi.

I've compiled a list of Wish Valakut that performed well from Oct. 5 to Oct. 31.

List1(SB《Sylvan Scrying》)

This is a list of the top 8 finishers at the 4SEASONS TOURNAMENTS - AUTUMN (266 participants) held in Italy.

This is a list that you can expect to see in a metagame with a lot of Tron and UW Control, and a few Fair decks underneath.The Top 8 are the following archetypes, so the creator has successfully predicted the metagame.

• UWr Control*2
• Dredge
• Counter Monkey
• Burn(《Lurrus of the Dream-Den》)
• Tron
• Ensoul Artifact Affinity
• Wish Valakut

The main feature of this list is the《Sylvan Scrying》on the wishboard.There are four options to search for《Cavern of Souls》,《Castle Garenbrig》,《 Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle》, and Fetch Land, but I think《Cavern of Souls》is the most likely choice.If you use《Cavern of Souls》for MB and《Sylvan Scrying》for SB, as in this construction, you can play as follows.

t3《wish》cast《Sylvan Scrying》to search for 《Cavern of Souls》

t4《Cavern of Souls》set and cast《Primeval Titan》

In a typical list, only one《Cavern of Souls》is used for MB or SB.The former has no definite search and you don't know if you can draw it, while the latter has a backfire of needing to have lands in hand.Considering this, employing《Sylvan Scrying》in the SB may seem pointless, but it may be one of the right choices.

If you have a lot of nonbasic lands that work in your favor, such as the TitanField archetype that used to exist, it can be more powerful, so watch the metagame carefully.

List2(Anti-control)

Next on the list is HarruyaTournamentCenterTokyo, which went 3-0.I'm surprised that I didn't think there were other people running WishValakut, even though I go there frequently.

• 《Fry》
• 《Klothys, God of Destiny》
• 《Veil of Summer》*3

These six cards are used as control measures.

• 《Engineered Explosives》
• 《Beast Within》
• 《Nature's Claim》
• 《Foundation Breaker》
• 《Reclamation Sage》

The above five cards are also used to counter 《Spreading Seas》and《Alpine/Blood Moon》.

Blue has been the most common color at the HarruyaTournamentCenterTokyo for a while now, so I guess they read that and decided to make a list with strong countermeasures.

List3(Anti-HummerTime,CascadeCrash)

The archetypes that titanshift has the most trouble with in Modern right now are Hammer Time and Cascade Crash.This list uses the next 10 cards to counter those two in a strong way.

• 《Engineered Explosives》*2
• 《Force of Vigor》*2
• 《Void Mirror》
• 《Storm's Wrath》

We don't use《veil of summer》because we have a lot of countermeasures for the two archetypes.However, with《Cavern of Souls》, 《Engineered Explosives》,《 Chandra, Awakened Inferno》,《Savage Summoning》, I can play against UWx Control, which is at the top of the metagame, with no problem.

List4(Anti-Counter Monkey)

This is a type of MB that includes several creatures that work well against certain archetypes, and searches for them with《Summoner's Pact》.

• 《Endurance》→Archetypes that use the graveyard
• 《Courser of Kruphix》→Burn
• 《Outland Liberator》→Control,Multiple Artifact/Enchantment archetype

《Endurance》is a flexible creature with many uses, such as Delirium jamming, blocker to 《Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer》, or casting it on your opponent's upkeep to block the casting of 《Murktide Regent》.

Also, by employing《Dead/Gone》, you can remove《Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer》in the early game and delay the game by bouncing《Murktide Regent》in the late game.

List5(《Titania, Protector of Argoth》)

A list with Titania, 《Protector of Argoth》, which I didn't find very attractive and hadn't even tried.Even 《Mwonvuli Acid-Moss》is employed as a recovery when fetchlands are not available.

I haven't tested it myself and there's nothing more I can write, so please bear with me.

Lists employing《wish》became more common, and it was fun just to follow the lists, as there were many ideas that had not come up in the Japanese community.

It would be interesting to continue to do a weekly article like this to introduce the lists that have been active.
